POWERING THE FUTURE:

SUSTAINABLE HEATING STAGE ONE

  • Our heating system at St. Ed’s is very much at the end of its life. It’s outdated, inefficient, and struggles to keep our building warm—especially in winter. As part of our commitment to sustainability and the Church of England’s Net Zero Carbon by 2030 goal, we’re replacing it with a new, environmentally friendly system.

    But before we can install sustainable heating (like electric heat pumps), we first need to upgrade our building’s power supply to 3-phase electricity. This involves significant electrical work so that it can handle the load of greener energy solutions. This is a crucial first step—not just to stay warm, but to serve our community more effectively and responsibly.

  • We’re aiming to raise £20,000 to fund this first phase—and thanks to the Church of England’s “Give to Go Green” match-funding campaign, every pound raised locally will be matched.

    That means if we raise £10,000 from our church and community, the Church of England will contribute another £10,000—doubling your impact.

    Give to Go Green is a national initiative designed to support local churches in making carbon-cutting changes to their buildings, as part of a wider commitment to environmental stewardship.
